Grote Houtstraat

Having an office in Haarlem’s main shopping street is possible on Grote Houtstraat. This unique building from 1870 has character and is located on a triple-A location. This makes it a dynamic working location. You can walk straight into the lively city centre.

The offices are pleasantly bright thanks to the windows overlooking the lively city bustle. Besides the many historical elements, which have been preserved as much as possible, the building was recently renovated and more than meets all modern office requirements. Among other things, there is a lift, intercom system and modern (professional) kitchen in the building.

The first floor (433 m2) is available for rent. It is divided into several spaces, recently renovated in style. The wooden herringbone floors, high ceilings (some rooms with characteristic rafters) give the rooms a warm atmosphere.

There are several office and meeting rooms, most of which have ample light due to the many windows. Besides an attractive spacious canteen, there is also a sauna and gym. These were added two years ago. Finally, there is a terrace for private use.

Surroundings

The building is located at the beginning of Grote Houtstraat, Haarlem’s main shopping street. The historic city centre is right on the doorstep and offers a range of shops, restaurants, cafés and amenities. To the south of the property are the Frederikspark and Haarlemmerhout city parks, perfect for finding some relaxation. The ‘Spaarnestad’ floats a bit between village and city – and that is the charm of Haarlem.

Accessibility

The accessibility is excellent, whether by public transport, car or bicycle. Bus stop Haarlem Centre is a 2-minute walk away and offers direct connections to Haarlem Station, Amsterdam, Amstelveen and Leiden. The office space is also easily accessible by car via the N205 with a connection to the A9. The public Houtplein car park is less than 5 minutes’ walk away.

History

The city centre is full of beautiful, landmark buildings. This double mansion dates back to 1870 and was built in Neo-Renaissance style, a popular architectural style in the second half of the 19th century.

The photo here, from 1906, shows the building on the left (with the flagpole sticking out). Interesting detail in the photo is the tramway that ran straight through Haarlem at the time.
