Home Offer Industrial SuikerSilo’s

The now iconic SuikerSilo’s are located in the shadow of Amsterdam. For decades, these served as sugar storage for the neighbouring sugar factory. Today, the two 50-metre-high towers, with their ultra-modern offices and showrooms, form a dynamic working environment for various creative companies. While during the day the size and the unique window designs stand out, at night the towers are transformed into a glittering play of colours. Sustainability was a top priority in the redevelopment into business premises and showrooms. To avoid waste, as much material as possible was reused. The SuikerSilo’s have been awarded energy label ‘A’ and sustainable energy is supplied thanks to a heat and power plant.

Since 2000, Cobraspen Groep has been redeveloping the former CSM site into a lively new area under the name SugarCity. The SuikerSilo’s have already been transformed into modern business premises and the adjacent sugar factory is in use as an events location.
The end of 2020 saw the opening of the 20,000 m2 ‘Amsterdam The Style Outlets’: a high-end fashion outlet with over 100 shops. Besides retail, there will be restaurants, a marina, a large supermarket and a 400-room hotel with space for events and conferences. A place where business and pleasure meet perfectly!

From Haarlem and Amsterdam, the SuikerSilo’s are easily accessible via the N200. The N200 has a direct connection to the A9 towards Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht or towards Alkmaar. The location is also easily accessible by public transport. Halfweg-Zwanenburg station is right in front of the door, and trains depart for Amsterdam and Haarlem four times an hour. Bus 80 (Interliner) also stops in front of the door.

The sugar factory opened in 1863. It was here where beets were processed. The silos served as sugar storage. The factory was owned by the Centrale Suiker Maatschappij for many years, and sugar was produced here until its closure in 1992.

The name SugarCity is therefore a fitting tribute to this history. Although the area is now being redeveloped into a large-scale outlet centre with surrounding facilities, its many historical elements have been well preserved.
