Home Offer Industrial Poortgebouw

The Gate Building is – as its name suggests – the gateway to SugarCity.

Sustainability and authenticity were central during the large-scale renovation. Thus, the formwork, which was used in the past, was supplemented and repaired where necessary. This preserved the industrial look.
Completed in 2023, the Gate Building now offers a dynamic working environment for companies. The spaces feature large windows that provide plenty of light and offer a unique view of the SugarCity grounds.

There is 1,684 m² of business space available, spread over three floors. These floors are accessible by stairs or passenger lift.

Units in object

There is 1,684 m² of commercial space available, spread over three floors. These floors are accessible by stairs or passenger lift.

All spaces are equipped with the new HR++ glazing, climate system with sustainable character, underfloor heating and all basic electricity to get started right away. Each floor has its own toilet group.

Since 2000 redevelops Cobraspen Groep is transforming the former CSM site into a lively new area under the name SugarCity. The The SuikerSilo’s have already been converted into modern business premises and the sugar factory next door is in use as an events location.

The end of 2020 saw the opening of the 20,000 m2 ‘Amsterdam The Style Outlets’: a high-end fashion outlet with over 100 shops. Still to come are retail restaurants, a marina, a large supermarket and a 400-room hotel with space for events and conferences. A place where business and pleasure are in harmony!

From Haarlem and Amsterdam the SuikerSilo’s are very easy to reach via the N200. The N200 has a direct connection to the A9 towards Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht or towards Alkmaar. Business owners and employees of the Gatehouse can make use n the car park located behind the factory.

The location is also easily accessible by public transport. Halfweg-Zwanenburg station is virtually on the doorstep where trains depart four times an hour to Amsterdam and Haarlem. It also bus 80 (Interliner) stops in front of the door.

From 1863 until its closure in 1992, this was the site of the sugar factory. Sugar beets were processed into sugar here. The Poortgebouw was in these days a distribution centre. A strategic location; at the gate, the (freight) vans could be loaded quickly. The management office was located on the second floor. On the third floor, the sugar factory employees could enjoy their lunch in the canteen formerly occupying this space.
