Home Offer Homes Kingfisher

Kingfisher is located on Koningslaan, opposite the Vondelpark, in the popular Willemspark neighbourhood in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. A unique opportunity to live in a wonderful location in the city. The transformation of a former office building into a characteristic residential complex has resulted in five exclusive flats including lift. With a love for the original design, the building has been given a quality boost. The spacious floors have been rearranged; a spacious basement has been added and a generously-sized roof terrace has been created on the roof for the penthouse. The characterful marble staircase has been retained, as has the lift with round windows, so typical of the 1960s.

Units in object

There is a double ground floor house with garden, three beautiful ground floor flats with a spacious terrace and a penthouse with international allure and a phenomenal roof terrace. The five unique, high-end flats are located on private land. The flats are equipped with all modern conveniences and are fitted with a Niko Home Control system. This system allows you to control lighting, heating, security and more easily from your smartphone or tablet. All these innovations ensure maximum living comfort.

Koningslaan is located in the attractive and quiet Willemspark neighbourhood, a stone’s throw away from the bustling city life of Amsterdam. A short walk from your flat brings you into the always lively Vondelpark, or you can explore the various restaurants and shops in the area. The bustling Cornelis Schuytstraat is within walking distance. The lively mix of artisanal neighbourhood shops, exclusive boutiques, cosy cafés and atmospheric restaurants makes ‘De Schuyt’ one of the most beautiful and popular locations in Amsterdam.

The location is very convenient; all facilities are within walking and cycling distance. Public transport in the area is also excellent; several tram and bus stops are located within a few minutes’ walk. Kingfisher’ is also easily accessible by car. Parking is possible right outside the door with a parking permit, in this part of Amsterdam there are not (yet) long waiting lists for permits.

Willemspark was designed in 1881 by J.G. van Niftrik as a series of villas sourrounding ponds that run into Vondel Park. It was not until 1902 that the villas between Vondelpark and Koninginneweg were built, and named after King Willem III.

However, during World War II the German occupiers did not want anything to do with the Dutch royal family. All street names connected with Dutch royalty had to be renamed. The renaming of this street was prevented because Amsterdam officials told the Germans that the street was named after the fictitious British-Dutch composer ‘Willem Spark’. This even went so far that in 1943 a lecture was organised in honour of Willem Spark’s birthday.
