Since 2000 redevelops Cobraspen Groep is transforming the former CSM site into a lively new area under the name SugarCity. The The SuikerSilo’s have already been converted into modern business premises and the sugar factory next door is in use as an events location.

The end of 2020 saw the opening of the 20,000 m2 ‘Amsterdam The Style Outlets’: a high-end fashion outlet with over 100 shops. Still to come are retail restaurants, a marina, a large supermarket and a 400-room hotel with space for events and conferences. A place where business and pleasure are in harmony!

History

From 1863 until its closure in 1992, this was the site of the sugar factory. Sugar beets were processed into sugar here. The Poortgebouw was in these days a distribution centre. A strategic location; at the gate, the (freight) vans could be loaded quickly. The management office was located on the second floor. On the third floor, the sugar factory employees could enjoy their lunch in the canteen formerly occupying this space.
